Art historian and interior designer

Drs. Ineke J.W. Beeling was educated as an art historian at Leiden University, The Netherlands. Her specialization is: decorative arts and interiors, but she also trained as an interior designer in London and at the Academy of Arts in Maastricht, The Netherlands

Museum director, antiques dealer, design projects

Coming from a family of generations of dealers in antiques, from childhood on she worked in the family business. She first had a career in the museums, a.o. as a museum director.
Through the years she designed exhibitions for museums and antiques fairs. She was asked by private owners to advise on the decoration of their monuments, followed by projects for hotel accommodation in monuments.  Lately she also designed period rooms for a museum.

Respect for the interiors of monuments

This design work always seemed to involve monuments and gradually her passion for interiors in monuments became her specialization.

As she has the knowledge and background she will respect the historic elements of your interior.  If necessary she can advise you about specialist restorers for woodwork, plasterwork, furniture or textiles etc. or have research done on original colours.

Monuments may vary between 16^th century castles and 19^th century factories or private houses from the thirties.

Suppose you wish to use a room with eighteenth century panelling as an office, private dining room or restaurant:

Firstly you can be advised on the original colouring, material of the panelling, mantle pieces, the ceiling and the floor.
Secondly you can choose for curtains in the style and colour of the period or in a modern style.
Thirdly, upon your wish furniture and lighting can be ultramodern, but with proportions that are respectful to the historic interior.

If, for example, reconstructions of period rooms for museums are required , the details of the interiors will be based on sources from the period.
